White millenials voted for Trump 48% to 42%
White women voted for Trump 53% to 43%

Is there any break down of white LGBTQ+ people that voted for Trump? I want to know how much of my own community I should hate
No exit poll that I’ve been able to find provided a break down of white LGBTQ+ votes. To get an estimate, we can look at the difference between considering race and leaving it out, again using the CNN exit poll:
- All Millenials: Trump 37%, Clinton 55%
- White millenials: Trump 48%, Clinton 42%
- All women: Trump 43%, Clinton 54%
- White women: Trump 53%, Clinton 43%
- All college graduates: Trump 43%, Clinton 52%
- White college graduates: Trump 49%, Clinton 45%
70% of all voters in this exit poll were white, and 58% of them voted for Trump.
Now, the exit poll for all LGBTQ+ voters was: Trump 14%, Clinton 78%.
That’s a big big difference from the statistics above, which means that being LGBTQ had a big impact on voter behavior. Ok, math time:
- 24537 people participated in the exit poll.
- 5% of those answered that they are LGBTQ, that’s 1227 people.
- Approximately 859 of those people (70%) were white.
- Since 14% of 1227 LGBT people voted Trump, 172 LGBTQ people voted Trump.
- If all those 172 people were white, then 20% of white LGBTQ people in the exit poll voted Trump.
- In reality there were probably a few LGBTQ POC’s who voted trump so the real number of LGBTQ white people who voted Trump might be 18% or so.
So in conclusion: the number of LGBTQ people in this exit poll are too small to get super specific data on how many white LGBTQ people voted Trump, but they strongly suggest it was a low number, maybe around 20%.
Does that mean we have nothing to worry about? Nope. nope. nope. Racism is a huge huge issue in LGBT communities and the fact that most white LGBTQ+ people did not vote Trump does not mean they are any less racist than their cishet counterparts.
It would be great is all the white people who did not vote for Trump were not racist but sadly that is far far far from true.
POC themselves are constantly reporting encountering a lot of racism in LGBT groups and we should have the good sense to believe them, they know what they’re talking about.
Be aware that racism is happening in your LGBTQ+ scene. Work against it. Kick people out if you have to. Make your space unsafe for racists so it can be safe for LGBTQ+ people of color.
