I’ll say it before and I’ll say it again:

You cannot challenge racism, on this level, by being nice to and reaching out to white supremacists.  Their entire ideology revolves around dehumanizing us.  It just does. not. work.  

You cannot fight fascism by prioritizing the feelings of fascists and letting them think they’re safe around you.  You don’t “get them on your side”.  Because treating them kindly and respecting them, gives them your silent approval and access to those of you who are way more vulnerable than you are and who cannot afford to feel safe enough to “debate” with these monsters. 

Our humanity is not a question or a debate topic, and by giving these people a platform you legitimize their views and help spread them to a larger audience. 

Then… How did it work for this guy?

it didn’t. he got harassed, assaulted and jailed by those people. he his and his family’s life threatened on numerous occasions then he got shot in the fucking head by those people. on top of that he was never nice or coddled white supremacists so what is your point dumbass.

I’m so sick of people throwing MLK in our faces. He was an advocate for peace, yes, and did it work in getting white people to see us as people, NO. They murdered him. So keep MLK out of your fucking mouth and stop throwing him up in our faces.

My point was that he protested peacefully because most of the time, being an arse back to an arse while justified, doesn’t change much. Sometimes, it just VALIDATES their reasons of being the arsewank they are.

Kind of why he said you can’t drive out darkness with darkness; it only layers more onto it. Yeah, being nice doesn’t always work, but at least then in this case, you’re actually proving that you are, in fact, human.

peaceful fucking protesting is not the same as coddling fascists and giving them a platform you dumbass. idk what mental gymnastics you did to get to that point but it doesn’t even make sense. and these people aren’t “arsewanks” they are FASCISTS who murdered him and many others like him. and being mean or aggressive to a racist doesn’t validate them being a racist???? me telling some nazi to drop dead doesn’t suddenly make them being a nazi ok because i was mean like are you stupid??? stop talking.

“you’re actually proving that you are, in fact, human.” i don’t need to prove i’m human to anyone? if my humanity is at risk because i hate racists/fascists and don’t want to do anything to make them feel better (and would rather actively make them uncomfortable) then your idea of what humanity is needs some work.
