Can we not all do the same by pretending that any attempt to understand the rise of facism is ‘humanizing fascists’.

ALL IT DOES IS GIVE US THE KNOWLEDGE WE DESPERATELY NEED TO FIGHT FASCISM.

The whole rise of modern fascism in two dozen countries just can not be understood by “people willingly got more racist and horrible.”

Not. how. that. works.

Social conditions causing a rise and fall in progressive and conservative urges, right wing and left wing pushes, moderation and radicalism, etc are real. That’s why we see far right movements rise to power in the years after a big financial crisis almost every damn time. That’s why almost every organisation from left to right has been getting more conservative and more nationalist lately. These big processes are real. Trying to understand that doesn’t mean excusing any of it.

Stop getting conversations about personal choice and guilt and conversations about massive fucking movements in history so messed up.
