Food Pantries will turn away People who look and act “too homeless”, they’ll turn people away for not registering in advance. It’s another fucking business but you haven’t done it so you got no fucking idea what you’re telling people to do in the name of consciousness raising
Not the couple ive been able to use, but I avoid anyone that my community isnt using already so confirmation biases. For sure lots if these are profitable enterprises and as such have systems that will eat your whole day and require a lot of work and waiting from you to justify their existence. X.x
But if your risking being kidnapped for phyche holds by merely existing in clean spaces then I think all the banks are inaccessible. And religious or political spaces can be alienating too.
The ‘non-profit’ food panties I know also require registration in advance and identification, making them inaccessible to anyone who is undocumented, not consistently in one location or not in a position to register.
Often the people working there don’t want to have those rules in place but are required to register their users to receive government funding. Some will give away food off the books but obviously you have to know who to ask and how to ask to get that so it remains unavailable to most.
