it’s still not clear whether any actual charges were laid against Birrugan, since it’s not illegal to burn the aus flag – he’s not in jail right now, for certain.

did you watch the video at the source? because they had cleared out a couple meter radius around the fire source, that the police pushed people towards when they charged him.
Classic police oppression shit:
“This protest is not illegal but if you do it we will break it up violently and hurt you. We won’t arrest anyone because it’s not illegal but it will hurt. Did we mention we will hurt you if you do this non-illegal thing?”
