A French police officer has been accused of anally raping a young black man with a police baton during a violent arrest in a Parisian suburb.
Three other officers were charged with assault, after a 22-year-old youth worker with no criminal record was allegedly beaten and raped with a police baton on a housing estate in Aulnay-sous-Bois.
The prosecutor’s office said the police had stopped a group of about a dozen people after hearing calls of drug dealing sites in the area.
There is video evidence showing three police officers forcing a young black man to the ground. French police claim that just out of view, obscured by the bodies of the police men, there was an ‘accident’ during which the young man lost his trousers and was accidental anally penetrated by the police batton. Which has got to be the least credible defense by rapists ever.
Anti-police protests including damage to police vehicles and collaborators have erupted in Aulnay-sous-Bois as a result.
Do not believe people who tell you that these are ‘thugs taking advantage of the events’. recognise these actions for what they are: resistance to long term and ever more horrific poilice brutality against people of color in Paris.
If these are ‘riots’ they are necessary riots long overdue.
