Stop demonizing riots.-@zellieimani
The main contradiction of liberal democracy is that it has largely been shaped through a history of various forms of illegal civil disobedience against entrenched power structures. Such civil disobedience is (retrospectively) seen as justified, and the people committing it are (retrospectively) seen as heroes…but each successive generation is asked to believe that any further civil disobedience would be unreasonable.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Liberals only hop onboard a movement or a push once its safe to do so. It’s always the leftists pushing the boundaries, and it always the liberals disparaging us for it until it becomes convenient to take credit for our work and blood. Look no farther than queer liberation getting morphed into lgbt pride. Liberal queers are just a quick to hate riots and protests, and the more accepted groups have no issue shitting on the less accepted groups in the exact same way they were treated only 5 years ago. If it wasn’t for rioting, we’d still be hiding in bars and evading the cops because of our sexuality.
