Pastel Bloc at UC Berkeley
tbh it seems like it would be more useful if they just blocced up the normal way. This largely defeats the purpose?
This whole thing has been pretty absurd. I hope no ‘first day radicals’ end up getting shot by a 3% militia if they try this sort of shit outside of Berkeley lol
I’m pretty convinced that for the moment, right-wingers are more dangerous at left-wing events than at their own. although, yeah, that could change at any moment.
I’m aware that they more or less consider themselves noncombatants. I wouldn’t ask them to charge the police lines, but unless you’re blocced up the same as everyone, there’s no point in being geared-up like that at all. If they wore black though, it provides other, rowdier, parts of the bloc more freedom to maneuver. That’s why everyone wears the same color.
Like, even if you don’t want to confront cops, fascists or Starbucks windows directly, which is good because that would be illegal, you should still bloc up so that other folks can’t be singled out and kidnapped.
Yeah like if the event gets rowdy then “oh that one guy with the pink and green shield I remember them” and boom your non-combatant ass just got arrested!
Well these people were medics and they blocked up like this to be highly visible so people who were hurt could, ya know, find them.
They knew high visibility could get them arrested, but they needed it to do their work.
The shields served to hide people from view who had to remove their face covers to be treated.that’s a fair point, but they could’ve worn all the same color still, as long as that color wasn’t black. then they would still stand out and be less individual -> more protected.
True, I’ve seen Pink Blocks do this effectively.
