People in #poverty
are told to just get a job; that punishments and broken safety nets are
“incentives”; that anyone who can’t get a job isn’t trying hard enough.Well #auspol, it’s all bullshit and here’s why:
181,000 job vacancies
738,900 people unemployed
1,095,975 people underemployed
2,990,300 people below the poverty line. The numbers don’t lie – we have a huge jobs deficit, our safety nets
are broken, and a whole lot of people are suffering as a result. It’s
time for our leaders to stop treating people in poverty as political
punching bags, and start working with us to end this crisis.
