Fun fact: in the 80′s the Dutch Unemployed Union held ‘fridge raids’ to protest against poverty. 

They’d find out when a politician of big boss who upheld poverty and starvation wages was speaking at some public even, then they’d carefully break into his house with a LOT of people and they would eat EVERY piece of food in his house and leave the empty dished behind without taking anything else. 

Direct action at its finest.

Yeah, unless all records of this are written in a foreign language, I’ve dug up nothing as well.

Yeah, they are. The 70s and 80s were really really busy protest times in the Netherlands and with all these riots and protester-vs-police battles going on, the eat actions barely got a line in a few Dutch history books. So most of the sources people can use are Dutch newspaper archives, where the key phrase for the Unemploment Union is ‘Werklozenbond’ though there were other organizations doing similar work. They themselves called these ‘eet akties’ but the newspapers rarely use that term and just use terms

criminalizing the actions.
