We thought we would just have to worry about transphobic asshole Dr. Zucker getting 2 chances to speak at this transgender health conference while trans people who want to protest at his talks are banned from doing so, but on the first day of the current conference in Belgrade things just got a lot worse.
Svetlana Vujovic, keynote speaker of the Belgrade Gender Team argued that:
– It would be good to find a cause and a cure so ‘transsexuals would no longer exist’
– used the terms ‘transsexualism’, ‘hermaphrodites’ and called transgenders ‘disordered’.
– misgenders trans people
– Used images of transgender peoples chest and genitals in her presentation without their consentAnd this is who gets to speak on the European Professional Association for Transgender Health Conference while transgender people themselves are barely represented even in the audience. Outrageous. Shame on you WPATH!!!

That as far from their only really shitty thing though.
– Almost all the doctors they praise as ‘best practices’ uphold some kind of transphobic practice, like forced diagnosis, defending laws that enact forced sterilization, forcing trans children to stay in the closet, denying that nonbinary genders exist, and blocking the transition options of trans people who are fat, autistic, depressed, etc. etc.
– Their conferences are still unaffordable to most trans people with ticket prices of 150 euros and more, a very important barrier when a huge percentage of the people effected by the decisions made live in poverty.
– They’re still incredibly cis-dominated and white dominated. Any time a trans person has been allowed on any kinds of advice committee so far it soon became clear that no one was gonna give them any real power.
– They still use a Code of Conduct that allows them to expel or call the cops on trans people that ‘disrupt’ transphobic speeches, potentially unleashing intense violence by the state against a trans person who dared to protest.
Etc etc etc.
