Isn’t this basically what Chavs by Owen Jones is about?

Absolutely (reading tip of the day, awesome book!) Owen Jones focussed most strongly on traditional media for middle class audiences and the image of the ‘chavs on the estate’ in Britain but his work has relevance in pretty much every country with a large white population.

The white middle class glorifies an imagined working class from right up to the miners strikes against Tatcher. From there, it blames the white working class for sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia etc etc and paints a picture of a fat, dirty, alcoholic man with a double chin and a baseball cap as the image of systematic racism and sexism, a caricature whose poverty is justified because he is despicable. This ignores

that the working class people they villify are the children of the working class people they glorify, that the biggest forces of systematic  racism, sexism etc. wear suits and that middle class communities are just as racist and far more segregated than working class communities.
