I hate when people use words like ‘compulsory heterosexuality’ and ‘socialisation into heterosexuality’ to argue that their fictional or historical favorite who passionately loved men and women was probably not bisexual but a monosexual lesbian women or gay man after all.
Fuck off.

Soooooooooo many bisexuals have identified as lesbian or gay first because society had imprinted in them that you can only like one gender, and liking the same gender as yourself makes you 100% gay and bisexuality does not really exist etc. That is compulsory/socialized monosexuality. That is a huge thing many bisexual people have experienced.

Yet no one is using the existence of compulsory/socialized monosexuality to argue that their fictional or historical was probably bisexual when there is no evidence that they were.

So perhaps this ‘my historical fav was probably not bisexual, just socialized that way’, is just plain old biphobia? (And by perhaps I mean definitely)
