On the note of removing Confederate statues as “erasing history.”

Don’t get it twisted. Erasing history would actually look like erecting statues and memorializing men who fought for slavery while dismissing that pivotal issue as secondary to “state’s rights,” and then gaslighting generations of Black people about it for 150 years. THAT would be erasing history. But taking these statues down, that acknowledges the history this country refuses to rectify, a history rife with Black people’s suffering.
