Yes yes yes yes yes, while there are nazi’s in other music genres, they’re huge in metal and actually get booked at non-political metal festivals like it’s no big deal! Disgusting shit. Also keep an eye on:
- Album titles and band names that have two words both starting with the letter S.
- Nazi number symbolism (18 means Adolh Hitler, 88 means Heil Hitler, 14 means a lot of bullshit and the three get mixed together to make numbers like 1488, 8814 etc)
- Songs with nazi phrases like ‘blood and honour’, ‘ blood and soil’, ‘
My Honor Is Loyalty’
- References to German military units. If a band is called Panzerdivision… yeah…
There’s more but these are some obvious starting points to spotting nazi metal.

Actually, the Algiz, Odal and Wolfsangel are all runes. The Triskel is a celtic symbol like the celtic cross. The Swastika has millennia of symbolic history in various cultures.
The nazi’s used many many more runes and other symbols like this, the list above is just the things neonazis chose to adopt as group symbols, a list of all symbols the nazis stole would be much longer.
The nazis stole heavily from North-European cultures and bits from every other culture and then invented all sorts of bogus research to claim that this thing had secretly always been their own. They set up huge false histories to ‘prove’ that everything good that had ever existed was somehow produced by their ancestors.
Is that rude? Jep. Totally. THEY’RE NAZIS. They do genocide and shit. Now that’s rude.
yeah i know. but specifically i was pointing out that it’s the rune for separation– as in separation of races. that’s what my “what the fuck” was for, not just the fact they stole the symbol.
and not only did they steal the symbol, but they actually looked at the meaning when they chose it, and i can only presume they twisted it for all it was worth.
(btw i have that rune in my pocket right now (along with all my other runes lol), which is part of why i was able to recognise it so easily. it was “i recognise that, that’s not a fascist thing” to “hmm now, actually, that’s separation” to “oh ew disgusting” in two seconds flat.)
i bet i could go into the meanings of the other runes, too. hm, so algiz; that’s protection. i have “look out for yourself and associate only with good people” written down for part of the meaning. which actually lends itself pretty well to fascist ideology, so yikes.
i dont have the wolfsangel one in here at all, but it’s very visually similar to eihwaz, which is defense.
so all three together are like. protection, defense, separation, which idk about you but theres a very obvious “racism justification” meaning there. protect our culture, defend our values, by separation. etc. ew.
Oh that is interesting. There are more runes that original nazis use that did not make it into modern neonazi cultures as much. Wikipedia has a pretty good list of which runes the SS used and how they saw the meaning of those runes.
