I used to think trans men couldn’t experience misogyny because misogyny is something that only women experience and to say trans men experience it is transphobic and misgendering
But like lmao!! The world doesn’t work like that!! When someone sees someone they think is a girl and starts hurling misogyny their way it doesn’t all of a sudden not fucking count because the Person on the receiving end just goes “oh but I’m a man this doesn’t actually affect me (:” like the world doesn’t work like that

like, we need better theories about transmasculinity than the awful circle-jerking we’re relying on right now because I really don’t think too many people have actually attempted to seriously theorize on the experiences of trans men outside of MEN? OPPRESSOR!!! and the attempts I do see are gross & transmisogynistic

I gave this a few tries in the past based on my own experiences as a genderqueer person who is sometimes read as a man, sometimes as a woman, sometimes as a transman and sometimes as a transwoman. Like yeah, shit’s complicated.

However, I have noticed that it requires a huge disclaimer or people will immediately attack me for what they think I wrote instead of what I wrote. That disclaimer is:

(TRANS)GENDERED EXPERIENCES ARE NOT OPPOSITES. If I say ‘transmen look great in tuxedos’ I do not mean ‘transwomen look bad in tuxedos’, when I say ‘transmen experience misogyny in this situation’, I do not mean ‘transwomen do not

experience misogyny in this situation’.

Reality. does. not. work. that. way.

Okay, so, shit I wrote:
