anonymous asked: jsyk, medievalpoc is someone that poc users have asked ppl not to reblog from because they post misinformation, doesn’t have any qualifications in medieval studies or art history. they’re antisemitic and anti-romani, and more
Medievalpoc has consistently, and in my opinion very convincingly, countered these accusations and explained their methodology.
There could certainly be things that I’m not aware of, but until I am convinced that medievalpoc is indeed antisemitic, antiromani, etc, I am not going to boycot one poc doing great stuff because some other poc don’t like them.
If I cut someone out of my life every time an anon told me ‘poc users’ don’t like them, I would become a tool for bullies and abusers. I see a lot of people doing this, trusting hear say and ‘but some of these people that I’m supposed to listen to say this’ without judging for themselves and using their own conscience. I don’t think that’s right. Related reading:

& I’m not particularily interested in ‘qualifications’ because as a historian, I can see that the work medievalpoc posts is well researched, well sourced, and presented in context. Which is what matters. So basically: ‘qualifications’ my arse, I can see the work has quality.

I am reposting this as a photo and text because one of the first responses on this post included links to posts doxxing medievalpoc. That is not something I tolerate on this blog. If it happens again I will delete and repost this again and block the persons responsible. If you wanna keep following my blog, don’t dox people in replies/reblogs.
Also related, why I evaluate claims like this for myself and don’t boycot good activists the moment I hear that they did a problematic thing once:

You can doxx nazis and terfs any day, not activists who do a lot of good work and some things you disagree with.
