Common neonazi symbols, an incomplete list. Correction: The sign listed as Pegida is not commonly used by Pegida but is used by the northwest Europe based neonazi Identity Movement.

Especially relevant for people moving within the Black Metal-Scene

Yes yes yes yes yes, while there are nazi’s in other music genres, they’re huge in metal and actually get booked at non-political metal festivals like it’s no big deal! Disgusting shit. Also keep an eye on:

  • Album titles and band names that have two words both starting with the letter S.
  • Nazi number symbolism (18 means Adolh Hitler, 88 means Heil Hitler, 14 means a lot of bullshit and the three get mixed together to make numbers like 1488, 8814 etc)
  • Songs with nazi phrases like ‘blood and honour’, ‘ blood and soil’, ‘

    My Honor Is Loyalty’

  • References to German military units. If a band is called Panzerdivision… yeah…

There’s more but these are some obvious starting points to spotting nazi metal.

A note about the Iron Cross – in America at least, you’ll often encounter it used innocently and without Nazi affiliation, and it seems to have become a fairly generic sports symbol. It’s just one type of croix pattée – a type of cross with arms of equal length that are flared at the ends. The Iron Cross as used by the German military has flat ends.on concave arms (and sometimes contains a swastika). Probably a little more difficult to discern than some of the other symbols here because it does have such a long and widespread use.

The triskele also has a ton of variations, the majority of which have no Nazi connotations or use. The one that looks like three 7s/a version of a swastika is what you have to look out for.

Another symbol I’d include is that of Thor’s hammer. It’s frequently used by non-racist neo-Norse pagans, but it’s also widespread among white supremacists and pagan Nazis. Also beware of people who spell “Europe” with a “V” instead of a “U”. It may be easy to confuse the Chaos Symbol with the Black Sun, but as far as I know, the former has no racist connotations.

The runes are also associated with Norse paganism, so not always Nazis, but unfortunately its worth checking out if you see them around.

Especially if those runes are in a row other runes. In that case, it could mean anything. Sadly, that means that it could also mean something in support of nazis. That said…

This is how to write “time to punch nazis" in runes. A centralised dot should be placed between each word if it’s written in a single line.

Loooooooooving this
