comparing tumblr “aphobes” to terfs is absurd and minimizes the decades of serious harm that terfs have caused towards trans people, primarily trans women. terfs have been responsible for trans deaths and y’all still think that’s on the same level as some people with bad opinions on the internet?
I haven’t seen anyone claiming that they’re on the same level.
No one (or almost no one, I’ve never seen it) is saying that the levels of harm and the intensity of the violence is equal.
What posts like this one that I wrote have been saying is that aphobes, biphobes and terfs on Tumblr use a lot of the same fake arguments and tactics and have a lot of the same flawed logic behind their arguments.
My trans, ace-spec, multi-spec self can speak for myself. These types of assholes all use parallel arguments. The same shitlords who were raving about how bi people werent queer enough or het-passing or whatever are the exact same *type* of person using those exact parallel arguments for aces and aros, and that same crowd was spewing transphobic shit a few years ago, and hell they even get all high and mighty about being “gold star lesbians”. Same shit, different target. Exclusionists don’t stop. It’s just redirected queerphobia that they’re venting on other queer folks, and frankly themselves, because they think the only way they’re worth something is if they put themselves on a pedastool and tear everyone down.
Queer Liberation is done hand in hand, or it won’t get done at all. Exclusionist/separatist mentality isn’t going to help you, it’s just hurting other people who also need help. Stop redirecting the pain from queerphobia onto eachother and start pointing it outwards at our queerphobic society. Beating the rest of us down won’t help you get accepted by society, society needs to be CHANGED. Marsha didn’t throw bricks for y’all to be fracturing the movement.
