as an intersex person can I just say I see a lot of similarity between intersex and aspec people?
I mean, intersex people who identify with the gender they were assigned at birth are cis, but that doesn’t mean that they have access to cis privilege in the way that perisex cis people do. They are not targeted by transphobia, but intersexism and transphobia share quite a lot of overlap. They may fit a definition of ‘cis’, but they are not a welcome part of cis society. And it is for that reason that they belong in the community should they want to be here.
Heteroromantic/heterosexual aspec people may be het attracted, but that doesn’t mean that they have access to straight privilege in the way that allo straights do. They are not targeted by homophobia or biphobia, but aphobia has a lot of overlap with them. They may fit a definition of ‘straight’, but they are not a welcome part of straight society. And it is for that reason that they belong in the community should they want to be here.
