R. BlanchardRemember these names. If you see these names, shit is about to go down. Any organization that allows these people to soeak at their event is either very ignorant or willfully platforming a massive transphobe.
These are horrible people. They lie, they publish bad ‘research’, they promote abusive therapies. They have all been discredited a thousand times yet they continue to get invited by media and conferences desperate for a transphobic ‘expert’ to hide their bigotry behind.Anne Lawrence too
True! who works closely with…. Ray Blachard!!! It’s a cluster fuck of a few people constantly supporting and peer reviewing each other in a tiny echo chamber of hate.
Zucker is against early childhood transition because nearly 70% of children who claim transgender feelings “spontaneously lose those feelings.” There’s no reason to allow children to transition with all the unnecessary social and health complications that child will face if they do not 100% NEED the transition. Not even mentioning those who start and realize they prefer their assigned gender. That’s literally all Zucker is about – even he supports transition if the feelings persist past age 13.
Okay, two things:
1. Zucker isn’t just against early social transition, he promotes subjecting children to intensive conversion therapy, taking away any toys and clothes that fit their identity, forcing children to stop seeing play mates of the gender they identify with, punishin children who persist in behavior that fits their gender identity, telling them again and again that they’re not who they feel they are. This is all highy traumatic. Zucker subjected one young trans girl to 105 “masculinizing sessions” to try to force her to start acting like a man.
2. The study he did which resulted in the ‘70% of trans kids will not transition’ was absolute bullshit. Here’s an incomplete list of all it’s flaws:
– The study grouped all ‘gender nonconforming children’ together without trying to seperate kids who expressed a strong conviction that they were transgender and/or a desire to transition from kids who simply enjoyed playing with dolls. Thus a lot of kids that where counted in the 70% never felt transgender to begin with.
– The studies only measures whether the kids chose physical transition immediately at the point of reaching adulthood, and does not do follow up studies to see whether they identify as cisgender their whole lives.
– The study ignores the fact that a significant number of the children in the study were exposed to abusive conversation therapy in Kenneth Zucker’s clinic. Which, ya know, is incredibly traumatizing and drives kids back in the closet.
– The studies had lost touch with a lot of the people they had studied as children and they marked all non-respondents in the study as ‘not transgender’. Yes, you read that right: if a transgender child that had suffered conversation therapy did not want to transition in the same clinic or talk to that doctor in adulthood, that child was marked as a ‘desister’. Really.
– The studies only counted as transgender those who responded to the study AND sought physical transition at the point of reaching adulthood. Thereby excluding a lot of transgender experiences from people who do not physically transition or who transition later in life. So, in short, the 70% number is bullshit. The figure is largely composed of people who simply wanted nothing to do with these shitty doctors anymore and of people who never had transgender experiences to begin with.
Could you link me to your sources? If all this is true I want to stop defending the man. I had no idea he supported conversion therapy or was such a poor scientist.
This article deals with several studies by Zucker and his allies, including the one mentioned above: Revisiting Flawed Research Behind the 80% Childhood Gender Dysphoria ‘Desistance’ Myth: https://gidreform.wordpress.com/2017/02/10/revisiting-flawed-research-behind-the-80-childhood-gender-dysphoria-desistance-myth/

I feel this list is missing Janice Raymond, cos of this crap: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Transsexual_Empire
Will probably not be used by STEM boners that much, but falls within the scope of the category academic research.Edit: it was in the Notes already, it turns out, so I wanna retroactively pretend that I stole it from there in order to score ally points.
Janice Raymond and her gaggle of nutty radfems are their own circle. Most current anti-trans studies are from this small clique.
Yeah, there could be another list of ‘academic sounding terfs that get quoted by every terf to back up their shitty opinions’ and such a list would be very useful but luckily that group does not currently get that much of a platform in media or academia outside their own circle of shit. At least not the media and academia I’m familiar with.
