A lot of people said it in January, let’s say it again: the large number of laws and measures that attack transgender people is a deliberate attempt to devide the LGBT community. Republicans know that a lot of cisgender LGB people won’t raise a finger to help transgender people or will actively support transphobic measures, which is why they’re attacking transgender people first and hardest. They will come for gay rights once they have sufficiently devided the LGBT movement. So if you care about gay rights, what you need to do right now is fight like hell for transgender rights.

Also, start caring about transgender rights in and of themselves too because we’re human and not discourse even though your radical queer theory tends to reduce us to the latter

Hello, me here, actual transgender person who is very little into theory and very much into changing the world for transgender people right now. I can see where you’re coming from but I’m not trying to do any of that.  I’m just here reminding these selfish ass gay people (that we know exist) that their rights depend on not fucking over ours because solidairty is how you change shit.

And don’t think I’m being dramatic. Denying transgender people the right to use a bathroom, to get the health care they need, to have documents that reflect their identity, giving employers the right to fire them for no reason, etc. all underminde their ability to exist in public spaces and to survive. These things are killing people while making their existence and thus their deaths invisible in public spaces. 

(Of course this never happens one-at-a-time,this is simultaneously happening to numerous marganilized groups.)
