Fredriksand reportback!

From Antifascistisk Aksjon;

 “The nazi’s demonstration became a fiasco

 Last fall, the nazi organisation “Norwegian resistance movement” (Norske Motstandsbevegelsen) that they’d march in a Norwegian city. In AFA, we thought that the choice would be between Østfold and Kristiansand, but that Østfold would be most like because it’s closer to the Swedish border. NMB is strongly dependent on their swedish friends and this has been shown time and time again – in Trondheim 2012, Lillehammer 2017 and in Kristiansand yesterday.
When NMB confidently announced that they’d march in Fredriksand to crush the “homo lobby”, we went to work immidiatly with our preparations, like the 10.000 in the event “Stopp nazistene”, we wanted to stop the nazis. That’s why we and 11 other organisations united to block NMB in Fredriksand!

 The police were obviously caught with their pants down by the powerful resistance that rose up against the nazis. To save the situation, the cops to forbid the nazi demonstration, but in this moment they also implemented a state of emergency and forbade every demonstration and cultural arrangement in Fredriksand that day.

 To justify this, the cops needed a scapegoat and they chose to blame it on ‘violent counter-demonstrators’. Ofcourse there are examples of violent counter-demonstrations, but in this case the cop’s arguement fell flat because the so called “violent counter-demonstrators” went in with the aim to not use violence.
 Our resistance and the cops uselessness stopped the nazi march in Fredriksand. This, we can see as a big victory for us antifascists, and a big failure for NMB.

 We understood that even if the march itself didn’t happen, that didn’t mean there weren’t nazis in the city. Therefor we provided a large amount of minivans and cars spread out over Østlandet. Hade we gotten information that nazis had shown up somewhere else, we could immidiatly gather to counter them.

 But the nazis didn’t gather in Østlandet. Instead they gathered in secret 40 miles away, in Kristiansand. There we saw the result of NMB’s “power gathering”, and that what sørlandsnazi Christopher Pedersen in advance called “The summer’s peak”. 60 nazis, where half of them were Swedes and Finns, stood up in central Kristiansand. There they stood for an hire before quickly dispersing. We guess that the mood was quite lame after such a fiasco.

 It still remains to be seen when the nazis will hold a proper demonstration in Norway. But we want everyone to know that we are many, many thousands of others stand ready to show our disgust!
