Alan Turing was convicted for indecency because he truthfully admitted to being in a relationship with his boyfriend. In The Imitation Game they purposefully changed this fact to him being caught with a male prostitute.
Alan Turing was also described by his friends as friendly, highly socialable, the life of the party, but ‘weird’ as in ‘queer’ as in ‘gay with very feminine mannerisms’ before people had a non-offensive word to describe that. The movie turns his ‘weird’ into an unsociable unfriendly autistic because that seems more appropriate for the stereotypical genius.
