Anarchism and socialism are the most lovey dovey, compassionate, adorable and cuddly ideologies imaginable. We are literally attempting to build a world where nobody suffers needlessly, because we all take care of each other. Love fundamentally defines us. I get that there are times when the left needs to appear frightening or aggressive, in order to stand up to those who would kill all of us and those we love – but frightening and aggressive isn’t at the core of what we believe in and what we fight for. Selfless love encapsulates us.
I don’t think love excludes being aggressive. It’s out of love for the marginalized that many of us confront reactionaries in the streets, or work for the violent abolition of authority, hierarchy, and absolutism. Love isn’t always peaceful or restrained; it can be wild and uncontrollable.
Yeah, it’s because we actually care that we’re fucking angry.
This is why we choose to fight back instead of starting petitions.
We know how capitalism is destroying people right now and we care to much to tolerate that, which is why we we want to actually change the world right now and not in some theoretical future.
