Hate Crime: paint on a statue. Not a hate crime: genocide.  

Labelling this as a hate crime is especially egregious when you remember all the times actual blatant hate crimes have been committed and the NYPD (and other like authorities) have insisted that they can’t label them as such because they ‘don’t want to jump to conclusions’ and ‘can’t yet be completely certain of the perpetrator’s motivations’. 

It certainly tells you something about their priorities lmao.
