Capitalism is a system in which rich owners exploit a lower (working) class to gain personal wealth via highly hierarchical business structures– aka corporations.
I make patches from my own equipment and recycled materials. These patches are made on commission. I am a craftsperson, not a member of the owning class and certainly not exploiting anyone.
If someone joined me in doing this we’d form a cooperative.
Money from this goes to making more stuff for the shop (itself all wearable propaganda) and to other projects I have that need funding to operate, given that the world and thus almost all resources are in the hands of capitalists with few exceptions.
Projects like the Free Lit Distro I’m establishing.
In the meantime, I am also dedicated to various mutual aid projects that are meant to help build autonomy in the area, such as the local Food Not Bombs branch I was a co-founder of.
But yeah silly me, the definition of capitalism is “any time anyone ever has traded anything” and not “A system in which an owning class exploits a working class by taking an unearned cut of the product of worker’s labor, which is known as profit”.
