‘What we need is not a government that legalizes same sex marriage, but rather people who no longer seek the government’s permission’

Which doesn’t mean we can never demand things from the government in order to survive, like a higher minimum wage or trying to stop a new law that further militarizes the police. But we must remember that these things are not about our ultimate goal of being free, they’re about our survival while we get there. 

And when we work on out survival, we must do it in a way that does not exclude our most vulnerable. For example, same sex marriage can be an answer to housing rights and health care rights but only for a small already quite privileged segment of the LGBT community. Imagine if we put our energy into housing for all and universal health care instead? 

(And imagine if we did that not just through permission put through squatting empty houses, taking the medication that keeps us alive and treating people who make health care impossibly expensive like the murderours they are?)
