Now that it’s finally been snowing for a day in the Netherlands, let me bring back this classic from 2015, where the snow helped cops discover a cannabis plantation in Haarlem

The Dutch system is a massive fucking joke. Basically: it’s decriminalized to buy small amounts of weed for personal use but it is criminalized to buy large quantities for resale and it’s criminalized to grow large quantities for resale. 

No really. This is the system. There is a huge system of shops that publically sell weed but there are no licenses. There is NO WAY to legally grow weed in large quantities in the Netherlands. 

So what happens is that there’s a huge decriminalized market of people who  buy weed and never worry about the system because there are no consequences for them, and a much smaller group of people who produce, traffic and sell that weed, who are constantly getting shut down and going to prison for it. 

And of course criminalized populations develop hard violent cultures that intimidate potential snitches into silence and when power concentrates these form ‘organized crime’ groups with all the shit that involves. So there is plenty of material to create a huge ‘weed grower = probably some kind of dangerous gangster = bad person’ campaign to convince people that all these people are deserving of all the prison time they get for trying to make money from weed. And this whole thing is in no way the government’s  fault for creating such a mess.  

So yeah: fuck the Dutch state, fuck cops. If you’re out there providing the weed we all smoke: good on ya. Stay safe this winter season.
