The moment a few trans people stop asking cis people for recognition, cis people lose their shit.

You watch. The moment some gender fucks start saying that actually we don’t care how cis people see us or what pronouns they use for us and whether they think we’re ‘real’, shit is gonna explode.

Because as long as recognition is the main goal, it’s all about cis people.

The moment we say ‘fuck what cis people think, I just wanna live’, they’re not important any more and they throw such a fit.

Fucking Hell : PREACH.

I’m saying this since years. I’m also saying : “I am feminist, but we NEED an autonomous transfeminist movement. We NEED moments of autonomy among trans folks.”

Most trans people will feel uncomfortable with the idea because (for very similar reasons to poor folks organizing about class issues, or POC organizing about racism, or feminist cis women organizing about cis women issues) they will fear that people see this as “too extreme” or something like “separatism”, which is just a misleading feature of the dominant ideology imo.

This idea that “Trans Women are women/Trans men are men. Period” and there’s nothing else to do than integrate ourselves in this binary is totally a part of the assimilation politics.

And it’s throwing all non-binary trans and queer folks under the bus.

Black Feminism is a thing. Anti-racist Feminism is a Thing. Anarchist Feminism is a Thing. Class-oriented Feminism is a thing. Trans Feminism have to be a thing.

We must stop relying on cis people, even “inclusive transfriendly feminist cis women”, because that pushes us to only wait for recognition and acceptance and inclusivity, but nobody notice you as an individual or a political group until you say :

“Hey, we are here and we have things we want to say and do by and for ourselves”.

It’s interesting how people see a movement for trans people who don’t want to assimilate, as being “seperatist”. I would argue that the current movement, of trans rights under feminism, is already seperatist. It insists on dividing up the trans community into “us Vs them”, trans feminine people Vs trans masculine people. There’s this idea that feminism can only support one half of our community and not the other, and it’s not only total horseshit but it’s also incredibly toxic and dangerous. It ties uncomfortably into the same logic behind lesbophobia and butchphobia, and transmisogny, it’s exhausting to listen to and I wish people would move the fuck on.

Also, tbh, you don’t have to be nonbinary to be against assimilation. Trans men shouldn’t be thrown under the bus just because they’re “men”. That line of thinking completely misses the point.

Also true.
