fromacomrade:

I just want to remind you all of Robert Eads who died of ovarian cancer after multiple doctors refused to treat him in 1997. Of Tyra Hunter who died in 1995 after EMS refused to treat her after a car accident. I want to remind you of Leslie Feinberg, who died of complications of tick-borne disease in 2014. Of Shaun Smith who died from diabetic shock in 2012 after EMS refused to treat her. Of all of the transgender people who have died after being refused medical care. And now think about the transgender people you love. Twenty percent of us have been refused medical care. And this administration just made it easier. This is murder.

Robert Eads made a movie called Southern Comfort about the last year of his life and the transgender friends who helped him towards the end of his life: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvtNn4eVLlk

Leslie Feinberg is best for the book Stone Butch Blues and has done many many many awesome things as an activist. An interview with Leslie can be found here: https://vimeo.com/120351030
