wow i love how leslie feinberg specified very clearly on her website that she wanted NO MOVIE VERSION of stone butch blues, explicitly because, among other reasons, she did not intend for the characters to have one canonical race, disability status, etc. and that everyone’s interpretations of them are valid but that “the derivative artist flattens and concretizes their own interpretation for all time, as if that’s the truth of Stone Butch Blues for all time and all readers. […] I do not give permission for Stone Butch Blues to be re-written based on someone else’s imagination.” …

… and yet i just saw a casting call for a new movie version that specifies for jess: “Ethnicity: Caucasian”

Leslie Feinberg spend hir entire life fighting for the transgender community. Ze has been death just a little over 3 years.

One of the last things ze spend her energy on near the end of hir life was releasing a new edition of Stone Butch Blues which ze released online for free and at print-cost in print so anyone could read it.

Going against hir wishes and making this movie is DISGUSTING.
