What millennials are out here “giving up” on protest and seeking justice? Where are they?? I keep seeing this post going around about how the next generation is carrying the torch we put down and I’m like…ummmm there’s millions of us out here doing the work every day and have been for years?? It’s ridiculous to categorize millennials as so crushed and beaten down that we’re no longer participating in activism. Like speak for yourself lol. Some of us don’t have the luxury of giving up because our lives are on the line every single day.
Also these generational separations are bogus bullshit anyways. Y’all have to stop clinging to them as if it’s gospel truth that the only people motivated to change the world are young and that when you hit your thirties your quest for liberation is over. Young people and elders have been doing the work since before this blue hellsite existed, and that will continue. It’s myopic to assume that because the people you follow “gave up” an entire generation did. That shit makes my skin crawl as someone who’s devoting their life to seeking justice for disabled people. Especially since the toiling that most disabled activists do is forgotten by history, rewritten, belittled or erased.
Just gonna drop this essay here and if anyone wants to reference it to help tear down generational labels, well… *innocent whistles* >:)
