Tongues Untied 1989

Released in 1989, Marlon Riggs directs Tongues United, a semi
documentary focusing on black gay love. A film that seeks to “shatter
the nation’s brutalizing silence on matters of sexual and racial
difference.” For Riggs does this by blending a mixture of personal and
fictional events that depict the identity of black gay men.
Marlon Riggs was a a gay African-American filmmaker and activist.
