Probably the saddest sign of our times is how many people respond with complete bewilderment if you mention direct action. Cutting border fences? punching nazis? sharing resources? blocking arms transports? building alternatives? They’re not even outraged, they’re just confused.

It’s like they’re so caught up in the spectacle of petitions, calling senators, ‘awareness’ and media visbility that they’ve completely forgotten that you can also just do shit without begging for permission.

Seriously, we’ve been so conditioned to seek permission for literally anything that the idea of just doing something yourself is seen as utterly unfeasible, pie in the sky, nonsense.

I for one am a huge believer in direct action and just making the changes we want to see instead of asking the powerful to implement them.

Want to house the homeless? Occupy some abandoned buildings. Want to replace your yard with a vegetable garden? Get you hands on some seeds and plant that shit. We can accomplish so much more by doing instead of begging.

hey, i agree with this sentiment, but don’t go and punch people. literally every “get the bad guys” type of thing in history has ended badly. french rev ended with the reign of terror, russian rev had gulags, wwii had concentration camps/human/experiments/death penalty by inhumane means. don’t start that bc the mob will run with it, and people will die, and you’ll become the villain you used to hate.

think mlk, ghandi, etc… make yourself unignorable, but not violent. make yourself a nuisance that is known, but don’t endanger your neighbors, the very people you would claim to fight for.

you realize that WW2 was ended by the allies killing the nazis, right? nonviolence didn’t root them out.

you do realize that civilians didn’t just walk into the street and punch nazis right? the allies did jack shit to the nazis until hitler attacked poland, and the only reason they did anything then was because they knew that they were next. and you missed the entire point of what i said. when you go out in the streets to “punch nazis” it ends up being people that disagree with you. every. single. “get the ______” has. ended. terribly. as evidenced by literally the entirety of european (and probably human, tbh) history. gandhi was one of the most successful people in history at achieving his goals (indian independence) and he was never violent. i wouldn’t go as far as pacifism, if someone starts shit, defend yourself, but don’t go instigating.

gandhi wasn’t the reason for the partition of india lmao. furthermore, if someone is gathering people with the objective of murdering billions of so called undesirables, then fighting back is not instigating. your whole post is a mess. while it’s at least true that the allies only stepped in when poland was invaded, saying civilians didn’t fight nazis in the street is ignoring the ENTIRE french resistance, polish resistance, and danish resistance. you’re basically whitewashing history so it appears that you can always get what you want through peace.

here’s a newsflash: in the real world, you have to fight. get used to it.

“the allies did jack shit to the nazis until they invaded poland”

yeah and civilians fighting them in the streets, tearing down their flyers, burning their podiums, and making them wish they never crawled out of their parents’ toolsheds would make it so they never took power in the first place

during the weimar period, liberals were saying the same garbage you are. “it’s freedom of speech” “don’t attack them because they disagree with you” blah blah blah. it took hitler 9 years to go from chancellor to holocaust perpetrator. 1933 to 1942. not because he wanted to wait but because he needed to get people comfortable enough with dehumanizing jewish and rromani people that they wouldn’t question the camps. he needed to play up existing prejudices and he did exactly that.

so when we say “fight nazis” we pretty much mean by any means necessary. they do disagree with us; so what? we disagree with each other. but there’s a difference between the infighting between leninists and anarchists and the very real war between leftists and fascists. liberals are content to sit in the middle and hear “both sides” and that’s what allowed hitler to take power. jewish militias, communist organizations, etc were all destroyed by the police when they attacked nazi rallies pre-chancellorship because “free speech.” fuck, hitler himself played up the “free speech” angle before he took power.

and your dumb ass is falling for it, just like you would’ve in 1932.
