I’m not a brave person, I’m just even more scared of what will happen if we don’t do anything
Anonymous climate activist I talked to
This articulates what I’ve been trying to put into words when people respond with all sorts of ‘but it’s dangerous’ to activism. Allowing the world to rush forward into neoliberalism and militarized borders and global environmental collapse and facism is about the most dangerous thing I can think of.
Of course we always do all sorts of shit to get through our actions as safe as we can, and of course we acknowledge that some people face more risks than others, and obviously we try to protect each other, but in the end we still need to go out and do it. Refusing to take any risks means asking other people to take those necessary risks for you, or accepting that nothing changes are we’re all fucked.
