Now that it’s pride month it’s time to remind you all…

Police have a centuries old history of persecuting LGBTQ+ people and other minorities, and pride was originally started by a bisexual woman to commemorate those brutalised by the police.

More specifically, it was originally organised to show solidarity with those attacked during the Stonewall riots. Which was mostly latinx, jewish and black people who consistently were targetted by police for searches, many of them were trans.

Pride parades were around the world originally meant to be us showing we’ve had enough with violence coming from police and society… As the Stonewall riots was a symbol of some of us finally standing up.

With this in mind… You all seriously want to ask why we don’t want police at pride? You absolutely have to insist it? I don’t want police at pride because they have a history of mercilessly targeting LGBTQ+ people.

I don’t want police at pride because they still target many minorities today. They shoot black people, deport muslims and latinx people, they brutalise disabled people, they mock and attack LGBTQ+ people… And you wonder why I am critical of them?

The same group of people who’ve been smashing any minority or leftist movement through assassinations… The same group that attacks protesters, journalists and activists around the world.

Police is undoubtably an oppressive and violent force, and we should not have to defend why we want them away from us. It should be obvious by now.

I want nothing to do with police because I know they could get away with murdering, deporting or assaulting people in my community, and many of them have gotten away with it too. Even to this day.

By the way, happy pride month! No pride in greedy corporatism! No pride in police violence! No pride in imperialist apologism! No pride in nationalism!

Pride is for everyone of us! Immigrants, refugees, people of colour, disabled people, religious minorities, neurodivergent people, little people, blind people, Deaf people, poor people et cetra…

But also, it should actually be safe for LGBTQ+ people.

Not just the abled cis gay white middle/high class men.
