Never heard this is Germany and I think a lot of the “In Germany they would recognize that these are nazis!” posts overlook the fact that Germany in fact has quite a lot of nazis right now and a lot of Germans are once again arguing to hear them out.

Just like that “If you were part of the nazi party in 1945, nobody cared what your reasons where, you were considered a nazi” is historically inaccurate. People have in fact been arguing that some nazis are not so bad at every stage in history. And antifascists have always called those people nazi sympathizers, because that’s what they are.

But German or not, this expression is spot on.
