ZAD! Fuck Appelistes! Fuck Legalists!’

The ZAD is a territory in Notre-Dame-des-Landes, France, which was squatted a decade ago to prevent the construction of a now abandoned airport project.

In April 2018 the French state set about destroying the ungoverned zone through a dual process of police repression and demolitions of houses, alongside ‘negotiations’ with those elements of the ZAD who were willing to engage compromise.

The Appelistes (the followers of ‘Tiqqun’ & ‘the Invisible Committee’) have played a fundamental role in supporting the state’s plan to ‘legalize’ the ZAD.

Not only did the Appelistes

enter into negotiations with the state and dismantle the road barricades at the request of police, but they also launched violent attacks upon anti-authoritarian comrades who opposed legalization. As a reward their specific farms and houses have been left untouched, while police have demolished dozens of other structures in the zone.
