I was going to say something like “well, you had ship wars 10 years ago, just not in every fandom” but then I read along and yeah… no. You had ship wars 10 years ago where people shouted at each other online and left mean comments under each others fics. That was a ship war. You did not have the ‘threatening jobs, families, calling them a pedophile every time I can because of some ship’ sort of ship wars apart from the very rare individual loner with big issues. At least I never saw a ship war like that back then. That shit is absurd.
