CDC: Increased PrEP use will decrease the number of new bacterial STIs:

More than 40 percent of chlamydia infections and 42 percent of gonorrhea infections would be prevented over the next decade if 40 percent of PrEP-eligible gay and bisexual men took PrEP and were tested twice a year for STIs. This would occur even with a 40 percent reduction in condom use while on PrEP.

In just six months after PrEP was offered to gay men in New South Wales, they saw “a 44% decline in early HIV infections in MSM, to levels unprecedented since the beginning of the HIV epidemic.”

One of the most sophisticated models showed that PrEP might actually reduce the prevalence of drug resistance. (PDF)
