wild how many anarchists and communists will come to the urgent defense of liberal bourgeois institutions. I’m not really sure how some of these people differ from liberals besides wanting to supposedly abolish capitalism. They’re just like slightly more radical demsocs
anyways schools are bad, they need to be abolished just like capitalism and if you think otherwise get some imagination. there is no separation between learning and living have a nice day
I feel like new-to-anarchist-thought folks tend to start out with the most obvious violent systems in our society, realizing that capitalism, the state, prisons and cops have to go. Which makes sense as a place to start.
And then realizing that all these other systems that maintain hierarchy and train discipline need to go, like schools, the concept of work, the nuclear family, the media, etc. That’s a second step for a lot of people.
And it’s really frustrating when you’re working with anarchists who have never got there, because they’ll suddenly out of nowhere start praising education systems of arguing that we should totally work with the media and you have to interrupt what you were doing to explain why you’re not doing that.
But it’s really great to get to the point where people do get it and finally realize that living and learning are the same thing, and so are work and recreation, and there’s no need for any of this bullshit. It’s pretty awesome.
