Would you consider hacktivism to be violent or nonviolent?

I consider the categories of ‘violent’ and ‘non-violent’ to be useless.

No one can agree on what they actually mean and when people do try to categorize violence and nonviolence they generally end up putting a spotlight on any kind of activism them don’t like (property damage, outing nazis, even road blocks have been called violent) while not recognizing structural damage to our lives as violence (denying someone housing, poluting water, creating a law that will kill people). Trying to categorize what is violent benefits those who can make the harm they do systematic, automatic, invisible.

We live in a world on unimaginable injustice and our greatest act of violence in it is our passivity. We’d do well to forget about violent vs. nonviolent.
