what kind of direct action do you find meaningful and feasible for working class folks?

fromacomrade:

AEIOU: Agitate, educate, inoculate, organize, unionize.

When work pulls some bullshit like cutting benefits, denying raises, increasing or cutting hours, speeding up production, doing discriminatory practices, et cetera, mention to your co-workers how fucked up it is and how much it hurts the workers while benefiting the bosses.

Highlight the inherent antagonism and irreconcilable differences that underlie the relationship between workers and owners, to show them that the boss is the enemy. Link your particular situation to other situations throughout the world and history, like the struggles that gave us the 8-hour day and the minimum wage.

Now that you’ve started raising class consciousness, build class solidarity; that’s what “inoculate” means. Bosses will go to any length to stop workers from organizing; they’ll show everybody anti-union propaganda, penalize and fire the rabble-rousers, bring in million-dollar union-busting lawyers, and incentivize workers to snitch on each other. Drive home the point that the workers share a common interest that’s at odds with the boss’s interest, and that y’all have to stick together to achieve anything. Small things, like ride-sharing or workers buying each other lunch, can be singled out and expanded into the bigger thing, solidarity.

So now you’re working in what we call a “hot shop,” a workplace where the employees are starting to get wise to the contradictions and antagonisms of class society, and we get into the O and the U. From here, the only way to drive things forward is through action. Look up the following: Sick-in. Working to rule. Slowdown. Run on the boss. Sabotage. Solidarity strikes.
