Upon learning that one of her fellow passengers was an Afghan refugee being deported and sent back to a war zone, Elin Ersson decided to prevent the deportation by simply standing up in the aisle and refusing to take her seat, thus preventing their plane from taking off. After the other passengers learn of the reason why they haven’t taken off yet, a Turkish passenger stands up in solidarity, followed by members of a football team also on the plane.
Eventually, the refugee is de-planed and his deportation postponed.
