Activists blockade Dutch arms dealer
Yesterday, 19-10-2018, activists held a one day blockade in front of the arms company Thales in Hengelo, the Netherlands for 10 hours.
Several people chained
themselves to the entrance gates of Thales, impeding employees and
tracks to reach the plant. Others stood with banners at the gates and
distributed flyers. At the entrance to Haaksbergerstraat 49, the
activists read the long list of refugees who died at the borders due to
‘Fortress Europe’.The action is against the role of Thales in the so-called ‘refugee crisis’. Arms exported
by Thales contribute to war, repression and human rights violations,
important causes of forced migration. The company also supplies equipment for
border surveillance and control to stop the people who are forced to
flee.Thales
earns big money thanks to the war and the inhuman European refugee
policy. With the
blockade, these activities of Thales are publicly announced and
denounced.
