The sharing of the names and faces of marginalized achievements and experiences has its place and its time, and it’s good to give credit where credit is due but don’t overdo it.

A post about a highly unjustified arrest of an antifascist activist is not better with their name and face in it. All that does is expose the activist to more danger.

It has to be safe and it has to be their own choice.

A person in handcuffs is not consenting to be photographed. If an author didn’t name their identity on a zine, don’t tell everyone that it was written by a black trans woman from your small mostly-white city.

And if you wanna do the kind of activism that doesn’t exist at the mercy of the state, get used to staying anonymous and not getting credit for the work you did. Get used to not telling your followers about the cool shit you did. Adjust yourself to activism without credit and praise. It can take some getting used to but it is the only way to stay safe if you want to be dangerous to the forces oppressing you.
