Whether people stay on Tumblr and facebook or not, I think we should be mindful of a shifting mentality not only in profit-run social media but also in all our own communities. I feel like over the last decade, what we consider ‘nsfw’ or ‘pornographic’ has shifted towards stricter rules. In online and offline radical queer spaces I notice that people are more likely to set sex apart from the rest of their life and less likely to speak of sex as an integral part of many of our lives, not dirtier or better than other parts, just a regular part of who we are and what we do. We’re not entirely immune to the general shift towards conservatism that has been going on for perhaps 2 decades now.
